Opensocial v0.6 Released!
Google has pushed out another version of the Opensocial API. Version 0.6 adds some security features as well as great new functionality.
Google announced this morning that opensocial version 0.6 has been pushed out. The new release contains some great additions:
- opensocial.Surface: Allows developers to easily gather information about the surface on which an app is running and even request navigation between surfaces. Very slick!
- Viewer Permissions: Tighter security for the user. This was a must, but makes app dev that much more challenging.
- opensocial.MakeRequest: A welcomed replacement for _IG_fetchContent, allows POST and GET and also signed data to be passed with requests.
- Activities Updates: The Activities object has been updated to remove previously depreciated items.
We ran some initial tests on Google's Orkut Sandbox today which seem to indicate that the release hasn't yet been pushed to Orkut. [ Dec 21, 9:15am PST ]
